Several top celebrities and politicians, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, paid rich tributes to eminent journalist, writer, thinker, political analyst and dramatist Gnani Sankaran, who passed away early today.
Gnani Sankaran was 64 and is survived by his wife Padmavathi and son Manush Nandan, an eminent cinematographer.
Rajinikanth, who visited the residence of the journalist to pay his last respects to the writer, said, “I am a great fan of Gnani. He is my friend, it makes me sad. He wrote what he felt was right without fear.”
Kamal Haasan, too, paid rich tributes to the great analyst who had contested the Alandur assembly by-election on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket.
He tweeted: My deepest sympathies and condolences on getting to know of Thiru Gnani’s death. His decision to donate his organs is praiseworthy. I bow my head in respect to his family which ensured that the rituals did not get in the way of his decision to donate his organs.
