The signing of Rajkummar Rao on a horror comedy makes for a unique combination itself. But Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK seem to have pulled off another coup by bringing in Pankaj Tripathi, Rao's co-star from Newton (2017) and Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) into their horror comedy, Stree.
A Mumbai Mirror report quoted Nidimoru as confirming, "It brings back Newton’s stellar duo, Pankaj Tripathi and Rajkummar Rao, as small-town simpletons caught in the middle of chaos."
The film, set in Chanderi, marks the directorial debut of Amar Kaushik, who assisted Nidimoru and DK on Go Goa Gone (2013). Revealing a key element in the report, Nidimoru said that the film is set in Chanderi as it involves the life of a tailor at its heart.
The producer was quoted as saying, "We picked Chanderi because we will get to shoot in the small town which is home to a lot of tailors, with narrow markets full of silk sarees. A certain aspect of a tailor’s life is crucial to the plot."
Apart from Rajkummar and Tripathi, the film also stars Shraddha Kapoor, who is expected to shoot for Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Stree simultaneously. Rajkummar is also currently shooting for the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Anil Kapoor-starrer Fanne Khan, and is expected to wrap up soon.
