Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor-starrer Veere Di Wedding has a new date

The film, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, will now be released on 1 June.

The sudden arrival of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavat seems to have thrown the Hindi film industry's schedule haywire. After the delays and preponements of several films, including Anushka Sharma's Pari, Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary, and Baaghi 2, the Sonam Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer, Veere Di Wedding has also been postponed to a new release date. The Shashanka Ghosh film is now set to be released on 1 June.

The film was to be released on 18 March initially. However, the domino effect of the changing schedules has effected a postponement in the release date. The new date was announced by producer Ekta Kapoor on Twitter.

The day, as Ekta pointed out, is also the birthday of Lakkshya, brother Tusshar Kapoor's son and her nephew.

Veere Di Wedding is produced jointly by Ekta and Rhea Kapoor, and stars Sonam, Kareena, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhaskar. The film will also see Sumeeet Vyas make an appearance.

Director Ghosh will work with Sonam for the second time after Khoobsurat (2014).
