After Rajasthan, CMs of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh oppose Padmavat release

While Rajasthan has banned Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavat, the chief ministers of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, too, have expresed their reservations over letting the film be released in their respective states.

Gujarat chief miniser Vijay Rupan told reporters that the state will not allow Padmavat to be released.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was asked whether the state would allow the film to be released, and Chouhan said, "Jo kaha hain, wo hi hoga (What I had sad, will happen). However, he did not clarify further. Chouhan made the statement while attending a yoga event in Bhopal to mark the birth anniversary of spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda.

Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are ruled by the the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

While there is no official announcement yet, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is likely to release its film on 25 January. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film with a U/A certificate, but Bhansali's troubles seem far from over.

The fringe right wing group Rajput Karni Sena continues to oppose the film, threatening to go to any extent to stop the film from being released.
