The multi-lingual productions coming through Priyanka Chopra's Purple Pebble Pictures have a new addition. The production house announced their next venture, Jahnu Barua's Bhoga Khirikee on Thursday (8 February). This will the first Assamese language film to be produced by Chopra's production house and will be directed by Barua, a National award winning filmmaker.
The production house made a very successful debut in 2016 with the National award winning Ventilator. Since then, they have gone to produce the acclaimed Sikkimese film, Pahuna (2017), and Punjabi film, Sarvann (2017).
Further, Chopra's production house, managed by her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, also has another Marathi production, Firebrand, scheduled to be released later this year.
Bhoga Khirikee will mark the return of Jahnu Barua to the director's chair after four years. The director has cast Seema Biswas and Assamese actor Zerifa Waheed in the film.
Incidentally, Chopra is also the ambassador for Assam Tourism. Speaking at the launch of the film, Madhu Chopra said, "Though the primary photography has been wrapped up, a chunk of the patchwork is yet to be done. With Priyanka's access as the brand ambassador of the state, it will be easier for the crew to procure permissions to shoot in locations off-limits otherwise."
Chopra is currently in the United States shooting for the third season of her American television series, Quantico.
