However, the lyricist feels that not just mosques but all religious places in residential areas should refrain from using loudspeakers.

Last year Sonu Nigam faced the ire of religious leaders after he spoke against the use of loudspeakers at odd hours in a mosque close to his house.
Nigam’s tweets were welcomed by some, but largely criticised by the hardliners. One clergyman even issued a fatwa against Nigam, announcing a reward for anyone who would shave the singer's head.
Singer Mika Singh too had disagreed with Nigam.
Now, many months later, Nigam has found support from none other than noted lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar.
In a tweet, Akhtar, agreeing with Nigam, said that not just the mosques but all religious places in residential areas should refrain from using loudspeakers.
"This is to put on record that I totally agree with all those including Sonu Nigam who want that Loud speakers should not be used by the mosques and for that matter by any place of worship in residential areas," Akhtar wrote.

Akhtar’s tweet, too, didn't please quite a few. However, the veteran stuck to his stand.
"Maen har galat baat Kay Khilaf awaaz uthata hoon. Mushkil yehi hai ke aap dusron ki galti to maan saktay hain Magar apni nahin. (I speak up against everything that is wrong. The trouble is that you agree on other's faults, but not when it is your own.)," he tweeted later.

Last year, Nigam quit the social media platform after recieving a barrage of hate messages. However, the singer will welcome Akhtar's support, even if it has come late.
