The hackers, identified as the 'Turkish Cyber Army Ayyildiz Tim' had earlier hacked into the Twitter accounts of Anupam Kher, Kiran Bedi, and MP Swapan Dasgupta.

After Anupam Kher, it is Abhishek Bachchan's turn to find his Twitter handle hacked. The actor's Twitter handle seems to be filled with indistinct messages in the Turkish language, suggesting that it has been hacked by the group called Turkish Cyber Army Ayyildiz Tim.
The group had also claimed to have hacked into the Twitter accounts of economist Kaushik Basu and Pritish Nandy. Their official handle has been suspended by Twitter as of now.
The Turkish Cyber Army Ayyildiz Tim had earlier hacked actor Anupam Kher's account, which was later reinstated. The actor quickly put out a tweet warning his followers not to open any Direct Messages (DM) sent through his account on Twitter.
To every one on twitter: please don’t open any link sent on your direct messages, however genuine they appear. That is the tool hackers are using to hack into your account. Please share this message with as many people as you can. Thanks. ð

Twitter even sent out an official message saying, "Our teams are working to resolve an issue affecting a small number of Indian users. We will notify affected account holders directly."
Apparently the hackers are aiming to promote Pakistan through the timelines of prominent Indian personalities. While Kher, Bedi and Dasgupta do have political affiliations, it is not known why Abhishek Bachchan has been targeted.
For now, it looks like it might be some time before the actor gets control of his account.
