A drop on a second Monday is expected, but Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic film Padmaavat still drew a fairly impressive number at the box office.

It earned Rs6 crore nett on 5 February, as reported by BoxOfficeindia.com, taking the film's total earning to Rs209 crore nett in its India business.

The drop is well over 60% from Sunday's collection (Rs18.5 crore nett). The film had pocketed Rs14.50 crore nett on its first Monday (29 January).

Padmaavat is made at an estimated budget of Rs170-180 crore and was screened across 3500 theatres in India.

With the high production budget, perhaps the film should have earned more, but one has to take into account that the film not released in three crucial states — Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The film has done well across the globe having grossed Rs400 crore. As per soruces, the satellite deal for the film has been struck for Rs85 crore.

Producers Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions are sure to make decent returns on their investment.

It might be difficult for Padmaavat to touch Rs250-crore mark in its domestic business for come this Friday Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man is due to hit the theatres.
