National Award winning director Raju Murugan, known for films like Cuckoo (2014) and Joker (2016), has his next feature in the pipeline with actor Jiiva in the lead. The will be called Gypsy.
Murugan is believed to have narrated the story of Gypsy to Jiiva, who finding the story unique, immediately agreed to be a part of the project.
Gypsy will be produced by S Ambedkumar on behalf of Olympia Movies, which has produced films like Desingu Raja (2013) and Manam Kothi Paravai (2012).
Murugan, who has until now made films that focus on social lifestyles and structures, looks forward to make Gypsy as a 'commercial entertainer with social consciousness'.
The film will be shot at various locations across the country.
Murugan is currently writing dialogues for Varma, the Tamil remake of the superhit Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Varma will be helmed by ace director Bala and feature actor Vikram's son Dhruv in the lead.
