A strange war is being fought between a producer and a director over the rights to a film's title!
The film in question, Kalavaani, which featured Oviya Helen and Vimal in the lead, hit the screens in 2010 and went on to become a superhit.
It was produced by Nazir of Sherali Films and directed by A Sargunam, who was then making his debut.
Recently, Sargunam, who has gone on to become a producer himself, announced that he would make K2, sequel to Kalavaani, with the same cast.
Now, however, a fight seems to have erupted on the issue with producer Nazir announcing that he will be making the sequel to the film and has already got the title registered.
"I am producing a film called Vadam which features Poonam Kaur in the lead," Nazir said. "This film will be released in May. After that, I will produce Kalavaani 2. I will let you know the cast and crew shortly. I registered the title Kalavani 2 with the producers' council on 17 January."
With both sides staking a claim to the right to make the sequel, a conflict seems to be on the cards.
