Ever since singer Zayn Malik announced that he would be collaborating with composer AR Rahman on a Hindi music album, fans across the world have been going crazy.
The former One Direction band member has a huge fan following, which includes Shah Rukh Khan's children Aryan and Suhana. Khan has even met and praised Malik for his work.
However, the latest snippet of the singer attempting to sing Kailash Kher's 'Teri Deewani' might dissuade some fans from being too confident of the star's attempt at Hindi music.
Malik put up a post on his Instagram feed of himself attempting a cover of Kher's bestselling album 'Kailasa' from 2006. The song, 'Teri Deewani', has gone on to become the singer's calling card in the industry.
Malik's version, though, is far from his best attempt.
Malik evidently has a voice with a great range, and his Hindi might not be exactly fluent, but it is the pitch of the song that seems a little off. Perhaps the singer might also contemplate brushing up on his Hindi dictionary before he works with Rahman.
While a majority of responses on the post praise the artist, quite a few are picking on Malik's pitching of the song. 'Zayn plz stop', reads one comment, while another says, 'Wtf is this?'
Speaking about the project earlier, Malik had revealed, "It’s one of the first songs I have sung in full Hindi, so it’s going to be cool to see what the response to that is."
The singer is also gearing up for the release of his second solo album, and has put up several snippets of the work for fans to catch up on.
