Jyotika Sadana to play Vidya Balan's role in Tamil remake of Tumhari Sulu

Vidya Balan's 2017 hit Tumhari Sulu is set to be remade in Tamil. Actress Jyotika Sadana is expected to take on the role played by Vidya in the Hindi version.

While there were rumours suggesting the possibility of a Tamil remake, Ellipsis Entertainment's Tanuj Garg, confirmed the news through a tweet on Wednesday (28 February) morning.

The film which earned the Filmfare award for Best Actress for Vidya, along with a Best Film nomination, told the story of an enterprising housewife who decides to become a radio jockey on a late night radio show.
The Tamil version will be directed by Radha Mohan, who is well known for a similar style of family films with sensitive portrayal of women characters.
The director has previously worked with Jyotika in the critically acclaimed Mozhi (2007).
The signing of the actress was also confirmed by her husband, actor Suriya, who tweeted the news to his followers.

The film, that is expected to go on the floors in May, will be produced by Dhananjayan Govind and Bofta Mediaworks, who have acquired the rights from Ellipsis Entertainment.
Jyotika is currently shooting for Mani Ratnam's ensemble drama, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.
