Early this morning, actor Arjun Kapoor flew to Dubai to help his father, Boney Kapoor, complete the formalities for the release of his step-mother Sridevi's mortal remains.

“Arjun Kapoor has gone to Dubai this morning to be with his father at the hotel while the formalities are being wrapped up and to oversee the return journey,” the actor’s publicist said in a statement.

Sources from Dubai claim that the Dubai Public Prosecution has given the required clearance for Sridevi’s mortal remains to be brought back to India, but it may ask her husband to stay back for further interrogation. This development has not been confirmed by the officials yet.

“The prosecution has given the clearance for Sridevi’s body to be flown back to India. So, there won’t be a second autopsy. However, Boney Kapoor may be asked to stay back for further questioning,” the said source.

According to a gulfnews.com report, the actress's body hadn't been released until 11.20am (Dubai time) today.

"By 11.20am Tuesday morning, Dubai prosecutors haven't issued a written approval allowing the family of Sridevi to collect her body, pending further law enforcement procedures," the report stated.

Sridevi passed away on 24 February. Reportedly, Boney found Sridevi lying motionless in the bathtub in her hotel room. The autopsy report was given to the Dubai Police yesterday (26 February) who posted a tweet confirming the actress died due to ‘accidental drowning’.
