Director Luv Ranjan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is all set to become the first surprise hit of 2018. The film, starring Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh Nijjar, earned well yesterday, a working day, by making an impressive Rs4.75 crore, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.
The romantic comedy about a guy trying to break off his best friend’s wedding had done well over the weekend by earning Rs26 crore. With yesterday’s number, the film’s grand total now stands at Rs30.75 crore.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety review: This bromance is just another Punchnama reload
Ranjan has tasted success in the past with films on similar lines with Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015). Looks like his formula has worked yet again.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is made at a budget around Rs40 crore (including prints and advertisements). With close to Rs31 crore already in the kitty, it seems the film will surpass that amount in this week itself.
This Friday will see the release of Anushka Sharma's Pari and Veerey Ki Wedding. While there is some anticipation for Pari, it is not a big release. Hence, Sone Ke... stands a good chance in the second weekend too.
As expected, Welcome To New York, which was also released last Friday, continued its dismal run yesterday too. After earning a paltry Rs2.10 crore in the first weekend, the film, directed by Chakri Toleti, made only Rs25 lakh yesterday.
