The trailer and the music of Mainak Bhaumik’s upcoming film Ghare And Baire were launched yesterday. A modern romantic comedy seeped in traditional Bengali sensibilities, Ghare And Baire features Jisshu Sengpta, Koel Mullick, Biswanath Basu and Aparajita Adhya in important roles.

The trailer offers a glimpse into the chemistry between the protagonists Amit and Labanya, who are long-time friends, but are yet to realise their love for each other. Despite their contrasting personalities, their love for Rabindranath Tagore, his songs and attachment to Bengali culture do not let them grow apart.

“Ghare And Baire is my story with Tagore’s notions, philosophy and perspectives. With this film I have attempted to bridge Tagore’s two novels Ghare Baire and Shesher Kobita in a modern setting,” said Bhaumik.

Ghare Baire (The Home and the World) is a 1916 novel by Tagore, which was adapted to film by Satyajit Ray in 1984.

The music of the film has been scored and composed by Anupam Roy and Savvy Gupta. Apart from the songs of Tagore, romantic number 'Tui E Ki Kore Dili', sung by Roy, has already won hearts and received a positive response on social media.

“This is my first film with Mainak. He is extremely calm on the sets and at the same time, he keeps cracking jokes with a very straight face,” said Mullick, the female lead of the film.

Talking about his character in the film, Sengupta commented, “Amit is generally very smart, but whenever he faces Labanya he seems to be at a loss for words. I am enjoying this role quite a lot.”

Filmmaker Birsa Dasgupta said on Twitter, “Ghare And Baire trailer touches the right chord and promises us of a lovely movie.” He also appreciated Mullick’s energetic screen presence and called Sengupta inevitably brilliant.
