Box office: Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety bags Rs26 crore nett in opening weekend


Director Luv Ranjan's film had an impressive opening of Rs6.25 crore nett on Friday and the numbers only improved on the weekend.

Director Luv Ranjan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has had a good opening weekend, bagging Rs26 crore nett according to Boxofficeindia.com.

The romantic comedy, starring Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh Nijjar, has proved to be a hit, especially with the youth.

The film had an impressive opening of Rs6.25 crore nett on Friday and the numbers only improved on the weekend with Rs9 crore on Saturday and Rs10 crore on Sunday.

Made at an estimated budget of Rs40 crore (including prints and advertisement), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was released on 1,500 screens across India.

Meanwhile, last Friday’s other release, Welcome To New York, turned out to be a disaster, collecting Rs2.10 crore nett on its first weekend.

Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, which was released on 9 February, has made Rs78 crore nett so far while Aiyaary, which was released on 16 February, has been a disaster at the box office, making just Rs17 crore nett so far.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Republic Day release Padmaavat continued to remain steady, bagging Rs3.90 crore nett on its fifth weekend, taking its all-India total to Rs273.64 crore nett.
