Actress Hema Malini has expressed shock and grief over the sudden death of Sridevi. The actress-turned-MP said she always held Sridevi in high regard as she never forgot her 'South Indian sanskaar [values]'.
“I value her for her sanskaar as in spite of achieving the highest position of stardom in Bollywood, she never compromised on the South Indian sanskaar inculcated in her,” Hema Malini told a publication.
The actress recalled the last time she met Sridevi, when she was looking forward to her daughter Jahnvi’s debut in Dhadak.
“We met at the Padmaavat screening and she looked lovely, happy and healthy and was her usual chirpy self," Hema Malini said. "She was most excited and nervous about Jahnvi’s debut. She expressed how she cannot wait to see her little girl take her first steps into Bollywood. Sri also said she was proud of her daughter for taking care of herself and putting in her 100% in her first film,” she told a news channel.
Hema Malini and Sridevi had starred together in K Raghavendra Rao’s Justice Chaudhury (1983), which had Jeetendra in the lead.
Hema Malini is known for her film Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), in which she played a double role. Not many may know that Sridevi, too, played two characters called Seeta and Geeta in Naaka Bandi (1990).
