Shruti, Akshara congratulate dad Kamal Haasan on political journey

Actor Kamal Haasan on Wednesday announced the name of his political party as Makkal Needhi Maiam and also unfurled his party flag for the first time.

On the occasion, scores from across the state and the country congratulated the actor. Among those who congratulated the actor were both his daughters, Shruti and Akshara. Both of them took to Twitter to pen their thoughts on their dad's political journey.

Shruti tweeted, "Wishing my dear father all the success on his first step of a million more toward change and political reform - to quote your favourite Mahatma Gandhi “be the change you wish to see in the world". I’m certain your determination and perseverance toward truth and justice we have witnessed in our family, will now be seen by everyone in our wonderful home of Tamil Nadu."

His younger daughter Akshara said, "A proud moment as my dearest bapuji @ikamalhaasan has announced Makkal Needhi Maiam @maiamofficial. My father has taught me progress is an individual journey & great progress occurs with the unity of people who take responsibility for the future of our society. Love you bapuji .#maiam #makkalneedhimaiam."

Interestingly, when Kamal announced at the public meeting that he would be taking questions from the gathering, one of them asked Kamal if his daughters too would be entering politics.

Kamal replied that it was their decision.
