Love stories of partners with opposite personalities are something we have been witnessing for years on screen. Director Vishwas Joshi’s Marathi movie What’s Up Lagna, which has a similar premise, is a bit different in its approach.
Unlike the usual gender stereotypes, Aakash (Vaibhav Tatwawaadi) is obsessed with keeping his room neat and tidy in a way that will put most perfectionists to shame. While making clear that he is not desperate, he is looking forward to settle down in life.
Ananya (Prarthana Behere) believes in not caring much about being neat and tidy, her way of living is as messed up as it could be. Add to that, she is clear she is not "typical house wife material" and does not believe in getting married and settling down.
Joshi's What’s Up Lagna is not just about modern clothes, language and the use of technology, but places equal importance on two thinking minds.
With films like Coffee Aani Barach Kahi (2015) and Mr And Mrs Sadachari (2016), Tatwawaadi and Behere are the go-to couple when it comes to the romantic genre in Marathi cinema. Their pairing looks impressive yet again.
The trailer does not hint at a twist or a conflict in the plot that is usually the staple of romantic comedies. More will be uncovered only when the film is released on 16 March.
