Actor Shahid Kapoor, whose latest film Padmaavat (2018) is still going strong at the box office, has started work on his next, Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018), directed by Shree Narayan Singh. He joined co-star Shraddha Kapoor for the first schedule of the film in Tehri, Uttarakhand.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first look of Shahid’s character on Instagram while on shoot.

Last week, on Valentine’s Day, Shraddha already unveiled her character, Lalita Nautiyal aka Nauti’s look on Twitter. She has bright blue highlights in her hair.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu, also starring Yami Gautam, deals with the issue of high electricity bills. Shahid’s character will reportedly be affected by this and seek to find a way to fix it.

The cast and crew are said to be shooting at the Khatling glacier, and the local temples, lake and markets of Tehri. Two songs from the film will be filmed later in Nainital and Mussourie.

The film is due to be released on 31 August 2018.
