Vipul Amrutlal Shah's long due Namastey England is all set to go on the floors from Thursday (22 February) in Amritsar. The film has Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in the leading roles. The shooting will take place across five countries. The initial shoot will begin in Amritsar, and then they will travel to Ludhiana and Patiala. The makers will be shooting across 75 locations in the three cities of Punjab.
"From Amritsar, we move to Ludhiana and Patiala. We are filming at more than 75 locations spread across these three cities. Later, we’ll also be shooting in Dhaka, Paris, Brussels and finally in London. That’s how the love story progresses,” Shah told tabloid Mumbai Mirror.
It's been a long wait for Shah as he kept waiting for Akshay Kumar, with whom he had earlier made Namastey London (2007). Akshay had initially agreed to do Namastey England, and Sonakshi Sinha was cast as the female lead. However, the project got delayed and later there were murmurs that Akshay wanted to be paired with an actress he has not worked with before.
So, Sinha was out and Chopra was signed. However, Akshay himself couldn't take up the film. While promoting Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) last year, Cinestaan.com had asked him whether he couldn’t do Namastey England due to prior commitments, and the actor had said 'yes'.
Then stepped in Kapoor. However, Shah announced that his next with Kapoor and Chopra was titled Namastey Canada and it wasn’t the same plot as the one he had for Namastey England. Now the film is back to being called Namastey England.
For Kapoor and Chopra, this is their third film together after Ishaqzaade (2012) and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar which is under production.
