Fourteen years ago, Priyanka Chopra was appreciated for playing a grey character in Aitraaz (2004), that was loosely based on Hollywood erotic thriller Disclosure (1994). Buzz has it that producer Subhash Ghai is ready for a new Aitraaz, having locked down the script and is keen to cast Chopra as Sonia Roy again.
Tabloid Mumbai Mirror quoted a source as saying, “It’s a new story with a new title. Subhash Ghai has already had a word with Priyanka Chopra and the two have discussed the film. She loves the idea of a sequel to a film which won her accolades for her performance in a negative role and is excited to feature in the second instalment of the franchise. She is keen to collaborate with Ghai again and has even told him that she will try working around her dates.”
Ghai has penned the script, but will be looking for a director.
“She’s so talented and classy, I’m keen to have her in my film again,” Ghai had told mediapersons at a recent bash hosted by Chopra.
Sonia Roy was a powerful business woman who is unable to move on from her past relationship with Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar). Roy meets Malhotra again, this time as her boss and makes life difficult for Malhotra. The actress won the Filmfare award for Best Villain for her role.
