The makers of R Balki’s Pad Man, which stars Akshay Kumar in the titular role, have come up with an interesting challenge to promote the film and reduce the hesitation in discussing menstruation and sanitary pads.

The first actor to take the challenge was superstar Aamir Khan. The Dangal (2016) actor proudly held a sanitary pad and encouraged his followers to talk freely about it.

He in turn has challenged fellow stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

In a tweet, Aamir Khan said, “Yes, that’s a pad in my hand and there is nothing to be ashamed about. It's natural! Period.”

It will be interesting to see if and when the three other stars take the challenge.

Aamir Khan was challenged by the film’s producer Twinkle Khanna, wife of the male lead Akshay Kumar. The chain was started by Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man on whose life the film is based.

Aamir Khan had starred with Twinkle Khanna in Dharmesh Darshan’s dud Mela (2000). He has never worked with Akshay Kumar. But the bond between them was talked about when the Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) actor gave away his award for Singh Is Kingg (2008) to Aamir Khan as he was impressed with his act in Ghajini (2008).

Harsh Goenka, chairman of RPG Enterprises, has also taken the challenge.
