Bumba, Shot Ready, autobiography of Bengali cine star Prosenjit Chatterjee, was launched by veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee on Tuesday.
The book, co-authored by journalist Gautam Bhattacharya, records the actor's struggle on the way to being called 'The Industry’ today.
Prior to the launch, one-time superstar Amitabh Bachchan congratulated Prosenjit for his bold step to disclose the chapters of struggle in his 34-year-long career.
Actresses Indrani Halder, Rochona Banerjee; actor Kaushik Sen, filmmakers Srijit Mukherjee, Kaushik Ganguly, Shaibaprasad Mukherjee and many other celebrities who contributed to Prosenjit's journey shared emotional moments during the book's launch.
The star mentioned that he missed the late filmmaker and his dear friend Rituporno Ghosh on this special occasion. "I am sure if Rituda were alive now, he would have made a significant contribution to the book,” he said.
Referring to the accounts of Prosenjit's journey from the autobiography, Soumitra Chatterjee said, “I respect Bumba for the extraordinary
amount of hard work and perseverance he has put in to achieve the position that he now has in the Bengali film industry.”
Shibaprasad Mukherjee said, “According to me, Prosenjit Chatterjee is an era and it is important for us to know the different layers of obstacles the actor had to overcome in his journey in order to understand the history of Bengali cinema.
"I think the autobiography will help us delve into his life and clear many misconceptions that we have often had reading gossip and publicity posts about him.”
