Shashank Khaitan and Varun Dhawan are set to team up again for their upcoming film, Rannbhoomi. The film will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and is set to be released on the Diwali weekend of 2020.
The film will mark the third collaboration between Khaitan and Dhawan, who have already delivered two hits in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2013) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
Director Khaitan and Johar teased fans on social media by promising an announcement on Sunday, 18 February that came through early on Monday (19 February) morning, with both the director and producer putting up pictures posing alongside their star.

While the trio have collaborated before, Rannbhoomi will mark a change as the genre will shift from romance to action. In a quote to DNA, a daily, Khaitan said, "Rannbhoomi is a warrior film, which showcases love, relationships, sacrifices, revenge, and heroism. I remember, I began developing it in December 2015 and shared the idea with Varun, who got excited about it. Now, Karan has given us the wings to fly and we are excited to turn this dream into a reality."
While Dhawan is set to play the lead, there is no confirmation about the female lead as of now.
Dhawan already has a couple of projects in the pipeline — Shoojit Sircar's October and Sharat Katariya's Sui Dhaaga: Made In India — set to be released in theatres this year.
