Box office: Aiyaary gets a low opening of Rs3.25 crore

Keenly awaited Hollywood superhero film Black Panther earned around Rs5.25 crore in India despite having nearly half the number of screens Aiyaary had.

Director Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary has received negative reviews all around. This has come as a rude shock for the makers since the promos were well-received and there was enough buzz for the film.

Aiyaary review: Poor direction, abysmal screenplay shoot down this trickery drama

This has also reflected in the box office collections of the Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer. The film opened with low collections of around Rs3.25 crore yesterday (Friday), as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com. Aiyaary is reportedly made at a high budget.

The film now needs a big jump today and tomorrow. Following that, it will need to hold well on the weekdays too. But going by the response it has received, this looks difficult.

Keenly awaited Hollywood superhero film Black Panther was also released yesterday. The film earned around Rs5.25 crore in India despite having nearly half the number of screens Aiyaary had.

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-starrer Pad Man made Rs2 crore yesterday, which was its first day of the second week. The grand total of Pad Man stands at Rs64 crore currently.

The film, directed by R Balki, hasn’t earned in line with expectations of a Akshay film. The film’s numbers are much lower than the last few films starring the actor.
