Actor Akshay Kumar's Pad Man hasn't quite taken the box office by storm, falling short of expectations. After the first week, the film has made Rs62 crore nett, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. Though not bad, the figure is low by Akshay standards. The total estimated budget of the film is said to be Rs70 crore.
Pad Man bagged an impressive Rs7 crore nett on Valentine’s Day/Mahashivratri, but on the following day, it could only get Rs3.75 crore nett, thereby taking its week-long total to Rs62 crore nett.
Pad Man review: Over-explanation stops extraordinary tale from becoming brilliant film
Compare this to Akshay's film Toilet: EK Prem Katha which made Rs94.21 crore nett in its first week. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha had 2,950 screens as opposed to Pad Man’s 2,750. Akshay's Valentine’s week release last year, Jolly LLB 2, had fared worse than Pad Man, earning Rs73.58 crore in its first week. It was released in 3,300 screens.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat made a decent Rs31 crore nett in its third week, thereby taking its India business to Rs255.63 crore nett so far.
