Will consider quitting cinema when I take up politics full time: Kamal Haasan

Speaking to reporters after meeting his welfare association members and fans, Kamal Haasan said he has not decided on whether he will continue to act in films.

Earlier, in an interview to a television channel, the actor had said he was going to dedicate all his time to politics after the name of his party is announced on 21 February. The actor had stated that two of his films are in their final stages and he would not sign any new films after they are completed.

However, Haasan, while speaking to the mediapersons said, "I will be starting a political party on 21 February. I will be addressing a public rally in Madurai that evening. I have three films on hand at the moment. I will consider about quitting cinema when I take up politics full time."

According to sources close to the actor, he held meetings with lawyers and members of his welfare assocation to discuss several important topics pertaining to the party, like its flag, name, and policies. The question whether the name of the party could be disclosed before it is registered with the Election Commission was also raised. The documents required to register the party with the Election Commission have also been prepared.
