Amitabh Bachchan gets nostalgic on completing 49 years in Hindi cinema

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan completes 49 years in the film industry today. It was on this day in 1969 that he signed his first film Saat Hindustani (1969), which was directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. The actor shared this information on his social media channels today.

He shared a couple of pictures on the occasion. One is a collage of three different scenes from the film. The other is a collage which has his avatars from his each year in the film industry from 1969 to 2017 (he hasn’t had a release this year so far). Bachchan captioned it, “FB 1915 - 49 years ago I came to the city of dreams, Mumbai and signed my 1st film 'Saat Hindustani' .. FEB 15, 1969 .. whew .. !!! that is a long time ..”

Saat Hindustani is about seven revolutionaries. Bachchan played one of them named Anwar Ali. The film also starred other prominent names like Utpal Dutt, A K Hangal and Jalal Agha. Unfortunately, Bachchan’s entry into the film world didn’t turn out to be successful.

In the same year, he played the narrator in Mrinal Sen’s Bhuvan Shome (1969). Today, he is Hindi cinema’s go-to man when it comes to being the narrator.

The veteran actor tasted success for the first time in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand (1971).
