Luv Ranjan's upcoming romantic comedy, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, carries vibes of his previous work with the duo of Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha. The latest dialogue promo brings in the element of the judgemental family that every couple dreads. Throw in the conflicted friend, played by Aaryan, struggling to speak the truth, and you have a comedy on your hands.
The promo begins with a family sitting round talking about the girl (Bharucha) that they have selected for Sunny Singh's character. But while the younger generation struggles to choose a girl after the first meeting, the parents have no such compunctions. Cue the judgements and verdict game play. While the mother complains that she looks a little short, another aunt complains that she is too thin. But it is the men, whose retorts add to the fun element of the promo. On the complaint that she is a little short, Alok Nath quips, "Do you want to play basketball with her?".
This avatar of Nath, as the quick-witted, heavy drinking uncle is a far cry from the 'babuji' image that he cultivated through films like Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) and Hum Aapke Hain Koun...! (1994). To add to this conundrum is Aaryan's character, who's opinion matters.
The plot revolves around the enemity between Bharucha and Aaryan's character, and it is easy to see why the actor is so stumped.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is directed by Luv Ranjan and is scheduled to be released on 23 February.
