The film hasn't performed in keeping with the high standards set by previous Akshay Kumar films.

Despite a lot of hype and promotions, director R Balki’s Pad Man did not mint as much money in the first weekend as previous Akshay Kumar films that have become box office successes. Pad Man earned Rs39.50 crore in the first three days.

Naturally, the film saw a big drop yesterday on its first weekday as it earned Rs5.75 crore, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com. Pad Man’s grand total now stands at Rs45.25 crore.

Akshay’s last three films — Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), Jolly LLB 2 (2017) and Rustom (2016) — reached close to Rs50 crore in the first weekend itself. But Pad Man hasn’t reached the figure even after four days since it was released.

Apart from it being an Akshay film, the bigger reason why the numbers are not encouraging is because the film's estimated budget is Rs70 crore. Hence, it is imperative for the film to keep earning well in the weekdays too.

Pad Man faces stiff competition on the coming Friday as Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary will be released on 16 February. The Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer has a decent amount of hype going for it.

That’s not all though. Keenly anticipated Hollywood movie Black Panther will also hit the screens this week.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much talked about Padmaavat generated good numbers on its third Monday yesterday as it made Rs3.25 crore. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, has so far earned an impressive Rs245.22 crore.
