The shoot of director Nagraj Manjule’s next, Jhund, hit a hurdle recently. The Amitabh Bachchan-starrer is currently being shot at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The institute recently asked the makers to remove the sets. They were allotted the campus till 30 December 2017, but were unable to even begin till now.
Vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar sent them a letter on 8 February asking them to vacate the premises. Before doing that, he told to The Times Of India, “The ground was allotted for the film shoot till 30 December but till date, the makers have been unable to start the shoot. Following a notice from the district administration and concerns raised by the minister of state for higher and technical education, I take responsibility of the issue. Today, we will be sending a letter to the director asking him to remove the set.”
This also led to speculations about the future of the film. However, as per our source, the makers have assured that the film is definitely happening. They have asked for an extension for the shoot from the university and the film will start rolling in two weeks if all goes well.
Jhund is the next project by Manjule after the humongous Marathi blockbuster Sairat (2016). The untitled film will be his Hindi film debut.
