Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi will not be facing opposition any more from the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha after the outfit withdrew its protest against the film yeterday.
Kamal Jain, producer of the film, held a meeting with leaders of the outfit and gave it in writing that the film has not distorted history in any manner, a source close to the film's unit confirmed.
Satisfied with the assurance, the group withdrew its agitation and gave a 'no-objection certificate' or NOC to the filmmakers.
"Mr Kamal Jain met the leaders today and gave them in writing that there is no distortion of history or nothing objectionable about the film," the source told Cinestaan.com yesterday.
"There was no demand made by the Brahmin outfit to see the film before release. They wanted to read the full script, but since Mr Jain gave a writtten assurance that there is no distortion, the group withdrew its agitation," the source said.
Mr Jain even posed with the Brahmin leaders holding the NOC for a photograph.
The team of Manikarnika will heave a sigh of relief now that the matter has been resolved. Earlier, the Rajput Karni Sena, which had opposed the release of Padmaavat (2018), had also lent its support to the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha in its protest against Manikarnika.
Manikarnika came under fire after a rumour began doing the rounds that the film has a romantic sequence involving the legendary queen and a British officer.
Speaking to Cinestaan.com, Manikarnika writer KV Vijayendra Prasad had ridiculed this scandalous rumour.
Kangana Ranaut is currently shooting for the next schedule of Manikarnika in Rajasthan. The film is slated to be released on 27 April, but that could change if it is not ready by then. The film is based on the life of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi.
