Music director Jeet Gannguli’s Hindi single 'Barsaat Mein' was released on Facebook live yesterday. The official music video already has close to 1 million views since its release on the Youtube. Gannguli has composed songs for Hindi films like Aashiqui 2 (2013), Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015), Rustom (2016), among others.
Live on Facebook, Gannguli shared his journey as a composer right from his childhood, when he did not even know what composition meant. According to the composer, he playfully kept making tunes and later his parents bought him a recorder to encourage him. Gradually, he learnt various instruments including the tabla and the guitar.
Gannguli said that the experiences of accompanying stalwarts like Ustad Rashid Khan and Hariharan taught him a great deal in arrangement and composition of songs.
The tune of 'Barsaat Mein', a soothing number penned by Rashmi Virag, was conceived on a rainy morning by the composer, who won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director in 2014 for Ashiqui 2.
He weaved the simple words, conveying the eternal emotions of love, in sync with the rain into a tunes, which he first sent to Anurag Bedi from Zee Music Company. Thus, 'Barsaat Mein' was decided to be the first single to be released from his first album.
Amidst light hearted conversation and jamming over some of his most renown songs, Gannguli also expressed his immense gratitude towards his listeners who reportedly inspired him to release a single.
