Sree Venkatesh Films has announced a plan to produce and release 25 Bengali films in the next three years.
Leading directors like Srijit Mukherji, Arindam Sil, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Birsa Dasgupta, Aparna Sen, Sandip Ray, Raj Chakraborty and Rajib along with some additions like Anjan Dutta, Mainak Bhaumik, and Dhrubo Banerjee are collaborating to usher in a new wave in Bengali cinema.
The announcement by the leading production house is considered a bold one because of its impact on the business and the output of the industry. According to reports, an investment of Rs100 crore has already been made for the productions, quite a huge leap for Bengali films.
Amongst the 25 films, some are ready for release this year while others are in pre-production stage and still others are being shot. The team also made it clear that the number of productions is not going to be limited to 25 and there will be more additions with time.
With the new proposition, SVF also promises to promote films in various genres like mainstream commercial entertainers, adventure thrillers, screen adaptations of literature, detective thrillers, coming-of-age cinema for urban audiences, and period dramas.
