2.0 (Hindi) has made Rs137.50 crore nett in eight days, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. It beat the Rs132.07 crore nett that Akshay Kumar's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) had earned. Toilet was released on 2,950 screens in India, while the Hindi version of 2.0 got 4,000 screens.
The S Shankar sci-fi thriller was released on 7,500 screens across India and 10,500 screens worldwide. The Tamil-language film has been made at a staggering cost of Rs543 crore.
It's not personal glory just for Akshay Kumar. South superstar Rajinikanth, too, achieved the biggest success of his career. 2.0 has become the first Tamil film to gross Rs500 crore worldwide.
The Lyca Productions film has so far (approximately) bagged around Rs380 crore (gross) from India and Rs120 crore worldwide so far.
The previous record was held by Rajinikanth’s Enthiran (2010), the first film in the franchise. Enthiran had grossed Rs320 crore worldwide, while Rajinikanth’s Kabali (2016) had made Rs304 crore worldwide.
Telugu film Baahubali: The Conclusion made Rs1,800 crore worldwide.
