Barely a week after her marriage to American actor-singer Nick Jonas, actress and producer Priyanka Chopra is back to work. Chopra attended a launch party for Bumble, a social and dating app, in New Delhi with her husband on 5 December. She is an investor and the face of the brand which makes its debut in Asia.
One of the reasons that Chopra has moved to the 94th position, from 97th last year, on the Forbes Top 100 Most Powerful Women list is her financial investments in technology with Bumble and the Holberton School for software engineering, along with her role as actress and producer with Purple Pebble Pictures.
The 36-year-old actress is one of four Indian women, including vice-chairman of HCL Technologies, Roshni Nadar Malhotra (#51); chairperson and managing director of Biocon, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (#60); and chairperson and managing director, HT Media, Shobhana Bhartia (#88).
Chopra is one of the 15 women from the field of media and entertainment. Fellow artistes Oprah Winfrey is the highest on the list at #20, while singers Beyoncé Knowles and Taylor Swift feature in at #50 and #68, respectively.
The Sky Is Pink actress tweeted that she was “honoured to be a part of such an exclusive & illustrious list of #PowerWomen in the world for the 2nd time. It's a reminder to stay hungry, keep pushing the status quo & continuing to do what I love. And on that note #backtowork.”

The busy and ambitious actress-producer brushed off any negativity, especially from negative piece put out New York magazine’s The Cut which was later removed. She told journalist Sonal Kalra at the launch of Bumble, “I don’t even want to react or comment. It’s not even in my stratosphere. I’m in a happy place at this moment. These kind of random things can’t disturb it.”
