Box office: Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar's 2.0 (Hindi) collects Rs13.75 crore nett on first Monday 

After a huge collection of Rs33.25 crore nett on Sunday, 2.0 expectedly saw a drop of over 50% on its first Monday.

Actor Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan turned out to be a huge disappointment at the box office, but the trade has hope by the early impressive performance of Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0. The Hindi dubbed version of the Tamil film has crossed Rs100 crore nett in its first few days.

After a huge collection of Rs33.25 crore nett on Sunday, 2.0 expectedly saw a drop of over 50% on its first Monday. The Lyca Productions film still made a good Rs13.75 to take its Hindi version total to Rs109 crore nett. Compared to the collections on Friday, the drop is just around 25%.

The Hindi version has been distributed by Anil Thadani’s AA Films and Dharma Productions. 2.0 was released across 7,500 screens in India, with the Hindi version being released across 4,000 screens. Worldwide, the film has been released across 10,500 screens. 2.0 had collected Rs380 crore worldwide in four days.

The sci-fi thriller is made at a budget of Rs543 crore. The film is said to have recovered most of its production cost from the sale of ancillary rights. The satellite and digital rights, of the Hindi version were sold to Zee TV for Rs125 crore.

Directed by S Shankar, 2.0 is the sequel to the 2010 film Enthiran. While Rajinikanth returns as Dr Vaseegaran and the robot Chitti, Akshay Kumar makes his debut in Tamil cinema as the villain, Pakishirajan.
