After playing a piano player and a twenty-something son dealing with the arrival of a new sibling, actor Ayushmann Khurrana is stepping into a new role, as Dream Girl. The first look of Khurrana’s next film has the star donning a yellow sari for the directorial debut of writer Raaj Shaandilyaa.
The film, which is set in Mathura, begins filming today. Not only is the actor wearing a sari, he has worn glass yellow bangles and chappals while seated on a motorbike with Uttar Pradesh nameplates.
The actor revealed the poster on Twitter saying, “As whacky (sic) as it can get!”. Khurrana is now known for picking out-of-the box content driven films and this one looks like it’s right up his alley. Actress Hema Malini famously starred in Dream Girl (1977) cementing her moniker in the industry.
Over the weekend, the actor also put out a funny video of him brainstorming with a bunch of writers about what his next film should be. The eager writers all suggest variations of Khurrana’s previous films with the actor becoming frustrated about each idea. Eventually, an office peon offers his script which the actor finally selects as his next project.
Dream Girl, produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, also stars Nushrat Bharucha.
