Director Aanand L Rai’s Zero has been struggling at the box office from the first day. The film finished its important first weekend with less than Rs60 crore nett.
After a slight jump on Christmas (25 December), the film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, as expected, dropped further yesterday. It earned around Rs4.50 crore in the day, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Zero has been receiving negative reviews and word-of-mouth. This has reflected badly on the film at the box office, just like it did for Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan (2018) last month.
The grand total for Zero currently is Rs85 crore. But, according to trade pundits, the film was made at a high cost of Rs200 crore. Needless to say, with its current total, the film is unlikely to even recover the cost of production.
What's more, the release of Simmba, which stars Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, tomorrow will not help Zero. There is a good buzz in favour of the Rohit Shetty directorial.
