Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan’s chemistry has been impressive in Simmba's trailers and songs released so far. And it continues to be so in the song, ‘Mera Wala Dance’, which was released on Christmas.
One might say this is just another typical Hindi film dance number. But that is exactly what the song aims to be, since Simmba is also your typical masala entertainer. The most important thing is whether the song provides a foot-tapping feeling. The answer to this is clearly in the affirmative.
‘Mera Wala Dance’ isn’t high on lyrics. The focus is mainly on the beats and the dance. The step where the actors pretend to play the flute in the classic Krishna pose is the high point with the music playing a big role.
Composers Lijo George and DJ Chetas have used the drum and banjo sounds that are mostly heard during Ganesh visarjan. This goes well with the state in which the film is based. Singers Nakash Aziz and Neha Kakkar complement each other perfectly.
Simmba has a cameo by Ajay Devgn, who played Singham in the earlier Rohit Shetty films. A glimpse of this was already seen in the trailer. But his entry and fight sequences have been unnecessarily included in the song. This not only spoils the fun but also appears forced.
Simmba is the official Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Temper (2015). The film is set to be released tomorrow.
