Anil Kapoor celebrated his 62nd birthday this evening in the presence of a group of journalists. The actor cut a big cake at an event where the trailer of his forthcoming film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga was also shown.
The film also stars his daughter Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Rajkummar Rao and Juhi Chawla. The cast along with producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Shelly Chopra Dhar were present at the event.
Anil Kapoor was happy with the response the trailer received. He highlighted the importance of the content whenever he has worked with Vinod Chopra. “I and Vinod always used to say that whatever work we do, our kids and grandchildren shouldn’t feel like what has our father done? Like Parinda and 1942: A Love Story. Even today they look relevant and fresh,” he said.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is the first time that Kapoor will be seen on screen with his daughter. The two play father and daughter in the film. Speaking about the experience, Kapoor said, “What happens with Sonam is that she looks magical on screen. Not because she is my daughter. You all are seeing it. There is something about her. She has that innocence and purity. Why did the writer, director and producer decide to cast Sonam? To get that innocence.”
Kapoor was also all praise for Rajkummar Rao and his voice. “He is very effortless when he speaks. I find his voice very poetic and lyrical. I love listening to his dialogue delivery. Maske ki tarah [like butter],” he said.
This is the second time the two actors have teamed up after Fanney Khan (2018).
Kapoor and Chawla have reunited after more than 10 years. Their last film together was Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-e-Ishq (2007). “Juhi is Juhi! We have worked together. Her comic timing [is very good]. She looks beautiful,” said Kapoor.
