Pakistani artistes Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan are cast opposite each other in the Pakistani film The Legend Of Maula Jatt, directed by Bilal Lashari. The film is a historical drama which also stars Hamza Abbasi and Humaima Malick (of Raja Natwarlal fame).

The trailer of the film was released recently and has the word ‘grand’ written all over it. Going by the production design, costumes and background score, the film seems to have achieved international standards. It is obvious that the makers have spent a bomb in producing this film. Other technical departments like action and cinematography have also done an impressive work.

The Legend Of Maula Jatt is the official remake of the old Pakistani movie Maula Jatt (1979). The film tells the story of Maula Jatt (palyed by Fawad Khan), who is the head of a village in Pakistan's Punjab. He takes on the mighty villain Noori Nath (played by Hamza Abbasi). Mahira Khan plays a young girl who becomes a victim of Noori’s atrocities.

The 1979 movie starred Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi in the roles of Maula Jatt and Noori Nath, respectively. That film is said to have been an unofficial sequel of Wehshi Jatt (1975).

The Legend Of Maula Jatt is scheduled to be released in Pakistan during Eid 2019.
