NTR biopic trailer: Balakrishna breathes life into the role of his late father

The trailer of NTR biopic has been received very well and most people praised it for its rich visuals on social media.

The trailer of NTR biopic, about the times and life of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, an actor-turned-politician who went on to become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, was released in a very grand event in Hyderabad on Friday (21 December). The who’s who of Telugu film industry and all the members of the Nandamuri family were in attendance as the film’s audio and trailer were released.

The film, to be released in two parts — NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR Mahanayakudu — has been directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in the titular role of his late father.

The trailer has been received very well and is being praised on social media for its rich visuals. The trailer opens with NTR preparing for the role of lord Krishna, presumably for Mayabazar (1957), which went on to be one of the greatest Telugu films ever. We get a quick glimpse of the times when NTR was popular for playing the roles of Hindu gods like Ram and Krishna. He was literally idolized by fans for essaying these roles.

The trailer also has fleeting shots of NTR performing on stage and his relationship with his wife (played by Vidya Balan).

At the trailer launch, Balakrishna said that he cannot believe they’ve wrapped up the project. "I’m not quite sure if I’m at the film launch or audio launch because it’s tough to believe we’ve wrapped up this project so quickly. What’s even more surprising is that we shot two parts in just 89 days. I need to thank all my artistes and technicians for giving their best for this project. I believe we as a team will create history with NTR biopic.”

The film also stars Vidya Balan, Rana Daggubati, Sumanth, Rakul Preet Singh, Shalini Pandey, Paayal Rajput and Hansika Motwani.

While NTR Kathanayakudu will be released on 9 January 2019, NTR Mahanayakudu will hit the screens on 1 February 2019.
