Actor Vishal has reportedly been taken into preventive custody by the Tamil Nadu police after a dispute broke out at the Tamil Nadu Film Producers' Council (TFPC) at T Nagar, Chennai. The actor was trying to open the office, which he claims has been locked down by people 'who are not members' of the Council.
The NewsMinute.com quoted the actor as saying, "I have not done anything wrong. They are not allowing me to go inside my office. If we ask questions, they are arresting us. This is unbelievable."
The detention took place a day after 300 film producers locked the Council office down demanding the actor's resignation from the post of president. The producers have alleged misappropriation of funds by Vishal and some committee members.
According to the report in NewsMinute.com, the opposing group, led by producer AL Azhagappan, locked down the Council offices in T Nagar and Anna Salai, accusing Vishal of misappropriation of Rs7crore of the official funds.
Azhagappan was quoted saying, "When he became the president, Vishal promised certain things to the members of TFPC. Those promises have not been fulfilled. He has also engaged in a lot of criminal activities."
Vishal was elected to the post of president on the TFPC in April 2017, after a contentious election. The actor also had to face several raids by the Income-Tax department following the election. The actor also went against the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) state government after siding with director AR Murugadoss over the controversy of his latest film, Sarkar.
