TV star Mahesh Shetty to play the baddie in Marathi remake of Angamaly Diaries

That the cult Malayalam film Angamaly Diaries (2017) is being remade in Marathi as Kolhapur Diaries was reported some time ago.
But now it has been revealed that television actor Mahesh Shetty will be playing the villain in the Joe Rajan directorial.
Shetty is known for his negative roles in a number of television serials including Balaji Telefilms’ Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, which starred Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. Shetty’s act as the bad man Siddhant Kapoor won him a number of television awards.
In Kolhapur Diaries, Shetty's character is called Anna. The film marks his Marathi cinema debut. His Hindi film debut happened with Ravi Jadhav’s Banjo (2016), which had Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri in the lead.
The film will see Bhushan Patil in the role of the main protagonist. This is his third film after Olakh: My Identity (2015) and Bernie (2016).
Directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, Angamaly Diaries starred Antony Varghese. The film is about how his character aims to rule over the town Angamaly through his righteous gang. It is considered iconic for its 11-minute single-take climax. It is also a rare film to feature as many as 86 first-time artistes.
Kolhapur Diaries is presented by Avadhoot Gupte, who was also the presenter for hit Marathi films Boyz (2017) and Boyz 2 (2018).
