Following the runaway success of Pandiraj's Kadaikutty Singam (2018), actor Karthi’s next big release is Rajath Ravishankar's Dev. As he waits for Dev to hit the screens, Karthi has signed his next project which was officially launched in a ceremony on Wednesday (12 December) in Chennai. To be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Maanagaram (2017) fame, the project is expected to be shot predominantly in and around Chennai and Madurai.
In a statement, Kanagaraj has revealed that Karthi’s character does have a romantic interest in this film, but this character will not be on screen. He also confirmed that the film will be an intense action-thriller.
The project also features Narain and George Maryan in important roles. Sam CS has been roped in to compose the film's music. The news about this project first made rounds over a year ago. However, back then Kanagaraj had denied reports of signing any new project and had said that he was busy working on a script.
Meanwhile, Karthi’s Dev is set to be released on 26 January next year. In November, the film’s teaser was unveiled and going by the visuals, the film promises to be an action-packed adventure. Produced by Prince Pictures on a budget of Rs60 crore, the film has music by Harris Jayaraj and also stars Rakul Preet Singh.
