Hotel Mumbai’s teaser opens with Dev Patel’s character, Arjun, getting ready to go to work at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. Arjun says goodbye to his family and like the thousands of citizens of Mumbai heads out on his commute.
Patel plays one of the waiters on staff at the Taj; he works under chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher). As the guests arrive for their stay at the hotel, the diligent staff gets ready to take care of them.
These include actor Armie Hammer and actress Naznin Boniadi, who play a wealthy couple with a young baby. Their lives are all changed when a co-ordinated attack on the city commences late evening on 26 November 2008, leaving the guests and staff held hostage and under siege in the hotel by gunmen.
The short teaser, arriving a little after the 10th anniversary of the attacks, effectively raises the tension as Patel, Hammer, Boniadi, actor Jason Isaacs, and others try to survive the night.
Kher also revealed the film’s teaser poster online on Twitter today (11 December).
