Arjun Reddy (2017) fame Vijay Deverakonda made his Tamil debut earlier this year via Anand Shankar’s Nota, which was also shot and released in Telugu. The film, despite releasing amid great hype, sank without a trace at the box office. In the film, Vijay is forced to become the chief minister of a state after his father is arrested in a case.

In spite of the film’s failure, it is believed that Vijay has signed his second bilingual project, which will be directed by debutant Sri Karthik. The project, according to sources close to Vijay, will be bankrolled by SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures. The regular shooting is expected to commence from February 2019.

The makers are expected to make an official announcement in a couple of weeks.

“Vijay has heard the story and he really liked it. He has given his nod, but he is yet to officially sign on the dotted line. Since he’s currently busy shooting for another project, he is taking time to commit,” a source close to Vijay said. It has also been learnt that the project will also star Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna, who earned overnight popularity after working with Vijay in Pelli Choopulu (2016) and Arjun Reddy (2017) respectively.

Meanwhile, Vijay is currently shooting for Telugu political thriller Dear Comrade, which is being directed by debutant Bharat Kamma and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, who had worked with Vijay earlier this year in Telugu blockbuster Geetha Govindam. She will be seen in the role of a cricketer.
