Filmmaker S Shankar is on a sequel signing spree. After striking gold with superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0, a sequel to 2010 blockbuster Enthiran; he is all set to commence work on Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, which marks Shankar’s reunion with Kamal after two decades.

Now, Shankar has revealed he has plans to make a sequel to Mudhalvan (1999), which featured Arjun Sarja in the titular role of a rookie reporter who goes on to become the CM of a state for a single day.

Shankar opened up about Mudhalvan 2 in the chat show Hello Sago, which is being hosted by Shruti Haasan.

When asked if he has plans for Mudhalvan 2, he said that he has an idea for a sequel and that he’d like to have either Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan. He also added that if he can’t make the project with either of them then he’d consider approaching Vijay, with whom he had already worked in Nanban, the Tamil remake of 3 Idiots.

Meanwhile, the regular shooting of Indian 2 is expected to start from later this week. It has already been confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal plays the leading lady and she recently revealed that she’s thrilled to be part of the project. There are rumours doing the rounds that Dulquer Salmaan and Simbu are also part of the cast and it’ll be really interesting to see if it is indeed true.

Shankar recently revealed that he did a make-up test with Haasan in his old man get up from Indian. He said that he was amazed to see that Haasan could still carry that character he played over two decades ago with the same amount of energy.
